Burial Site Shelter, Oxford

A reciprocal rod structure was commissioned for a green burial site near Oxford. This led to the design of a semi open structure in which funeral parties could shelter from the weather, and to create a focus for ceremonies.

The idea was for something both beautiful and simple, and I think the spiral of the roof timbers and the large open skylight achieve this well.
